Equilibrium

8 stones were taken from the stream that runs through Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog in Wales and transported to various sites in the North West Highlands of Scotland. Each was wrapped as a ‘gift’ to its new location, labelled with the grid reference from Llanarmon DC (SJ157328), placed and photographed. In turn, 8 stones were collected from these sites and returned to the village, labelled with the grid reference of their origin and sited in discrete parts of the village. You can discover more about where the Llanarmon DC stones are now by visiting
http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/ and typing in the grid reference.

Equilibrium consists of two parts, the stones that you may find during your travels around the village and the photographs taken in Scotland. Both aspects invite travel and discovery in different ways. It is hoped that the two parts of the work will form a dialogue that speaks of the relationship between real and imagined places, and the connections and differences between where we are, and where we could be.

Equilibrium was a collaboration between Tracy Piper-Wright and Fin Wright. It was devised for and shown at Inside Out, a site-specific art exhibition held at Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog from 10th - 24th May 2008. Full size images from both sites can be viewed here.
